There are a lot of options today for the person who is looking out for a phone. One should remember that these many phones with these many options are possible only because of these initial phones that heralded a new phase in mobile phones.

In every business and market, there are some models and products that change the way the market works. Be it the automobile market, the clothes and attire market or the electronics market. The mobile phone market also has had some superstars that basically changed the way one looked at mobile phones. These phones were the perfect blend of form and factor and brought about a change not only in the customer mentality but also egged future mobile phone designers to give the market something new.

Sony Ericsson Walkman Series W550i:

In the mid '00s, mobile phone manufacturers began toying with the thought of giving the consumers something more than just a device that would take and receive calls, and something that the consumers could use on a portable basis.

Sony took a major step in this direction, with the firm knowledge those devices that allow a person to listen to music 'on the go' is a success. They implemented their popular walkman technology into a cellphone, and voila, we had a hot phone in our hands. Of course, if you look at the phone today the main issue that you would find is that it did not have a memory card slot, but all that was forgiven once one would listen to the best quality of music that would ever play on a mobile at that time.

Motorola V3i:

Back in those times, cell phones meant bulky machines which one had to lug around, and a slim and sleek mobile meant that it could easily break or would be stolen. Motorola changed all that with the Motorola V3i, which once again brought together the aspects of form and function. This particular mobile phone routinely makes it into the top hundred devices to be made in the past decade.

Of course, some variations of the V3i were stupid, like the one that had iTunes and allowed the user only forty percent of the memory card for music, but back then, this cell phone was one of the hottest cell phones around.

Nokia Communicator:

By the time cell phones became entertainment and communication devices, some consumers were missing the being productive while on the go. This gave rise to the Nokia Communicator, which can be considered to be the first true business mobile. Of course, the cell phone was quite bulky and even a bit cumbersome to use, but it surely gave mobile manufacturers the information that there is a market for business phones around too.
